Mearth is an Indonesian rock band (pronounced /mərTH/) that has recently released their debut EP titled “Echoes of Solace,” now available on all major digital platforms. Mearth is currently focusing on live performances and is already working on new material for their upcoming full-length album.
Jakarta – Indonesian rock band Mearth (pronounced /mərTH/) is releasing their debut EP, “Echoes of Solace”, now available on all major digital platforms.
Formed in 2018, Mearth is made up of Ditto Adiananta (guitar/vocals), Made Resi Saputra (guitar), and Ahmad Ilyas (drums). The band initially began under the names Thou and then Dwelling Eve, but eventually renamed themselves as Mearth. “Echoes of Solace” is their first-ever album, and it offers a deeply personal look into Mearth’s personal struggles.
The EP was recorded and produced entirely by Ditto, Resi, and Ilyas in their homes. Without prior experience in producing music professionally, the three band members took on all aspects of the process themselves—from writing all the way to release. The result is an EP that has a raw, unpolished quality, yet one that feels authentic and true to the band’s vision. While the sound may be a little rough and amateurish, it adds to the unique, personal feel of the music. It’s a reflection of their growth, both musically and as individuals.
The five tracks on “Echoes of Solace” explore themes of struggles of quarter-life crises that intertwines with a spiritual and religious dimension, exploring the notion of seeking solace through faith. The EP opens with “Redemption,” a track about overcoming personal flaws and the desire to escape mediocrity. “Common Virtue” tells the story of a person exhausted by social life, allowing the meaning of life to fade into emptiness. “And I Know You Will” explores themes of surrender and trust in a higher power.
The EP draws inspiration from ambient and atmospheric genres such as post-rock, shoegaze, and dreampop, known for their thick and layered soundscapes. However, Mearth strives to make the songs accessible and easy to listen to.
