Debu is a Sufi music group formed in the United States under Sheikh Fattaah. Originally named Dust on the Road, they relocated to Indonesia in 1999, adopting the name Debu. Their music combines Middle Eastern and Indonesian instruments, focusing on themes of peace, love, and longing for the Creator. They have recorded songs in multiple languages, releasing 7 albums so far. In 2025, they plan to collaborate with famous Indonesian artists, with the first single titled Mabuk Lagi with Dul Jaelani, already released.
Debu is a Sufi Music group born in the United States under the guidance of Sheikh Fattaah, the founder of Debu and their Sufism teacher. When in the United States, the name of their music group was Dust on the Road or Dust on the Street. The personnel of Dust on the Road are the parents of most of the current personnel of Debu. They moved to Indonesia in 1999 and changed their name to Debu.
Debu’s music is a blend of sounds from Middle Eastern strings, drum beats, flutes, violins, santur, flamenco guitars, baglamas, tamburas, ouds, dumbek, electric bass, and traditional Indonesian musical instruments such as the Sundanese Flute. The lyrics of their songs are themed around peace, love, and longing for the Creator.
During their journey, Debu has recorded songs in Indonesian, Arabic, Turkish, English, Chinese, and Italian. Until now, Debu has had 7 albums since first appearing to create works. In 2025, Debu will be actively recording for an album with a collaboration concept with famous Indonesian artists. The first single entitled Mabuk Lagi has been released in collaboration with Dul Jaelani.
